If you’re looking for a wedding venue on the Sunshine Coast, you’re certainly not short on options.
Beachfront restaurants, private hinterland estates, working farms, waterfront venues, European-inspired properties, intimate spaces and even a boat. We really are spoilt for choice.
But finding a beautiful venue isn’t necessarily the hard part. Finding the right venue for your wedding is.
Your guest numbers, budget, location, accommodation, transport, wet-weather options and the kind of atmosphere you want to create all matter. A venue that’s perfect for a 120-person party might be completely wrong for an intimate wedding of 30.
So, rather than trying to rank these from 1 to 15, I’ve put together a selection of Sunshine Coast wedding venues I think are genuinely worth having on your radar.
Some I’ve worked at personally, others I know through the local wedding industry, and some simply offer something a little different.
In no particular order, here are 15 Sunshine Coast wedding venues to add to your shortlist.
Marina Mooloolaba – Mooloolaba
Best for: Modern waterfront weddings
Marina Mooloolaba brings another waterfront option into the mix, this time further south on the Coast.
The venue offers spaces for ceremonies, cocktail hour and receptions overlooking the marina, with options for both intimate and larger celebrations and the staff are wonderful.
For couples with guests travelling from Brisbane or the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba can also be a very practical location.
You still get the coastal atmosphere and waterfront photos, while guests have plenty of nearby accommodation, restaurants and things to do around Mooloolaba.
Maleny Manor – Maleny
Best for: The classic Sunshine Coast Hinterland wedding
Maleny Manor has been hosting weddings for more than 30 years and it’s easy to understand why it continues to be one of the best-known wedding venues in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Set on a private 30-acre estate, you get those beautiful rolling green hills and sweeping views towards the coast, along with ceremony and reception spaces, onsite accommodation and an experienced wedding team.
Their standard wedding packages cater for 40 to 120 guests seated or up to 140 cocktail-style, with intimate and micro wedding options also available.
This is a great option if you want the full hinterland experience without having to build your wedding completely from scratch.
Worth considering: Maleny is a destination for many guests, so think about accommodation and transport early rather than assuming everyone will simply drive home at the end of the night.
Yandina Station – Yandina Creek
Best for: Country weddings without feeling too rustic
Yandina Station gives you the sprawling property wedding without having to travel deep into the hinterland.
Set across 14 acres, there are multiple ceremony locations including lawns, a pavilion, deck and lakeside areas, while receptions are held in the Dairy Barn, which can seat up to 180 guests.
It has plenty of character already, so you don't necessarily need to throw enormous amounts of styling at it to make it feel like a wedding.
It's also a particularly good option for larger guest lists that can be difficult to accommodate at some of the smaller Sunshine Coast venues.
Bistro C – Noosa Heads
Best for: A proper Noosa beachfront wedding
If your idea of a Noosa wedding involves being right on the beach rather than driving half an hour inland, Bistro C deserves a look.
It sits directly on Noosa Main Beach on Hastings Street, so you're getting one of the Sunshine Coast's most recognisable locations along with a restaurant that already knows how to feed a room full of people.
Bistro C can accommodate up to 135 guests banquet-style or 175 for a cocktail reception.
It's a particularly good option if food and location are high on your priority list and you want your guests to be able to stay around Hastings Street and make a weekend of it.
Worth considering: Noosa is busy, particularly during peak periods. Accommodation, parking and guest logistics are worth thinking about well before the wedding.
The Old Dairy Maleny – Maleny
Best for: Couples who want a blank canvas
The Old Dairy describes itself as a modern rustic blank-canvas venue, and that's probably the best way to think about it. Rather than walking into a venue with a very prescribed wedding look, you've got room to make the space feel like yours.
There are ceremony and reception areas, entertainment spaces and accommodation onsite, all surrounded by those gorgeous Maleny views.
If you love the idea of choosing your own styling direction and putting more of your personality into the day, The Old Dairy is absolutely worth visiting.
Worth considering: A blank canvas gives you freedom, but freedom can also mean more decisions. Make sure you understand exactly what's included with your venue hire and what you'll need to source separately.
Peli's Noosa – Tewantin
Best for: Mediterranean food and relaxed waterfront weddings
Peli's at Noosa Marina is for couples who don't necessarily want their wedding to feel like a traditional wedding reception.
The Mediterranean-inspired restaurant sits right on the waterfront and offers shared-style dining in a much more relaxed setting.
For smaller weddings, there's a private waterfront dining room for up to 40 guests. For larger celebrations, the whole venue can accommodate up to 120 seated guests.
I particularly like venues like this for couples whose priorities are essentially: great food, good wine, beautiful location, excellent people.
Not every wedding needs a ballroom.
Secrets on the Lake – Montville
Best for: Intimate weddings surrounded by nature
Secrets on the Lake is one of the more unusual Sunshine Coast Hinterland wedding settings.
Instead of rolling paddocks, you're surrounded by rainforest overlooking Lake Baroon.
There are several ceremony locations including lakeside and garden spaces, with a wet-weather option available, and reception options ranging from very small private celebrations through to the Sunset Deck for up to 80 seated guests.
There's also onsite accommodation for up to 32 people.
If you're planning something smaller and want your wedding to feel secluded and completely removed from everyday life, this one is worth exploring.
Noosa Boathouse – Noosaville
Best for: Sunset-loving Noosa couples
Noosa Boathouse is a three-level floating venue sitting directly on the Noosa River.
There are three waterfront event spaces, so it works for everything from relatively intimate celebrations through to much larger weddings.
And because there's a private jetty, arriving by boat is also an option, which is a pretty fabulous way to make an entrance.
This is one I'd look at if you want Noosa and water views but aren't necessarily attached to having a beachfront wedding on Hastings Street.
And those Noosa River sunsets can be ridiculously good.
Flaxton Gardens – Flaxton
Best for: Hinterland views with lots of wedding options
Flaxton Gardens sits between Maleny and Noosa and has huge panoramic views across the Sunshine Coast.
One of its biggest strengths is the sheer number of ways you can have a wedding there.
They offer larger weddings, marquee weddings, winery weddings, micro weddings and elopements, as well as multi-day options.
That flexibility makes it worth looking at if you love the hinterland but haven't yet worked out exactly what your wedding is going to look like.
It also has established indoor reception spaces, which is something I would always pay attention to when comparing hinterland venues.
Because as much as we'd all like to order perfect weather for your wedding, apparently I don't have that power yet.
The Rocks Yandina – Yandina
Best for: Private riverside weddings
The Rocks is set on a large private property alongside the Maroochy River and offers something quite different from both the coastal and traditional hinterland venues.
Weddings have exclusive use of the venue, with riverside ceremony locations and several indoor and outdoor reception options.
The Riverside Terrace can accommodate up to 120 seated guests, while larger celebrations can use the property's open grounds with marquee or tipi options.
It's a strong choice if privacy matters to you and you want your ceremony and reception in one location without other weddings or restaurant guests wandering around.
Essence Peregian Beach – Peregian Beach
Best for: Stylish smaller weddings
Essence is a great option for couples wanting something contemporary and coastal without heading into Noosa.
It's located right in Peregian Beach, between Noosa National Park and the ocean, with accommodation onsite and several spaces available for weddings.
This works particularly well for smaller celebrations. Their Beach House can host intimate events of up to 30, while the Holly Jade Room accommodates larger groups.
There's also a huge advantage in being able to turn the wedding into a little Peregian weekend with accommodation, restaurants, the village and beach all close by.
Catalina Noosa – Noosa
Best for: Couples who want to do something completely different
Yes. You can have your wedding on a boat.
Catalina is a 20-metre power catamaran operating on the Noosa River, with two open-air levels and capacity for up to 150 guests.
You can use it for the ceremony, reception, guest transfers, afterparty or even the recovery the following day.
For example, you could hold your ceremony around Noosa Heads, have Catalina collect everyone from the jetty and essentially start the party from there.
This isn't going to suit every couple, which is exactly why I like it.
If the thought of a traditional wedding venue makes you feel a little bit meh, Catalina gives you a genuinely different option.
Spicers Clovelly Estate – Montville
Best for: Luxury boutique weddings
Spicers Clovelly Estate has a completely different feel to many of the rural Sunshine Coast Hinterland venues.
The French-provincial-inspired estate has manicured gardens, 19 onsite suites and both indoor and outdoor wedding spaces.
There's also The Long Apron restaurant onsite, making food and hospitality a significant part of the experience.
This is one I'd consider if you're looking for a more intimate, sophisticated destination wedding where your closest people can stay onsite rather than a huge country wedding.
Goodwater Ridge – Maleny
Best for: European-inspired destination weddings
Goodwater Ridge is one of the more distinctive venues on this list.
The family-owned property has been created as a European-inspired wedding venue, complete with a whitewashed chapel, stone ruins, an atrium, gardens, reception spaces and onsite accommodation.
It can accommodate weddings of up to around 90 guests, with accommodation for up to 16.
They also offer three-day wedding packages, which makes this particularly interesting if you want your wedding to feel more like a whole weekend away with your people rather than one very fast Saturday.
If you've been saving European wedding inspiration all over Pinterest but flying 80 guests to Italy isn't exactly happening, this might scratch that itch.
The Chapel Montville – Montville
Best for: Couples who actually want a chapel
Not everyone wants to get married on a lawn.
The Chapel Montville gives couples a dedicated architecturally designed chapel in the middle of Montville, with beautiful views across the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
You can then move into the reception portion of the celebration onsite, with packages available for ceremony and reception.
It's particularly worth considering if you love the romance and tradition of walking down an actual chapel aisle but don't necessarily want a religious church ceremony.
How Do You Actually Choose?
This is where couples can get stuck. You visit three beautiful venues. Then five. Then seven.
Suddenly you've got seventeen browser tabs open, three wedding packages downloaded, a spreadsheet you no longer understand and absolutely no idea which one you liked in the first place.
Before booking venue inspections, work out your non-negotiables.
Think about:
Your realistic guest numbers
Your overall wedding budget
Whether you want ceremony and reception in one place
How important accommodation is
Transport for your guests
Your wet-weather plan
Whether you want an all-inclusive venue or more control over suppliers
How much styling and furniture you'll need to bring in
What time the party has to finish
And most importantly, how you actually want the wedding to feel
Don't choose a venue simply because it photographs beautifully.
Choose the venue that makes sense for the wedding you actually want to have.
What Does a Sunshine Coast Wedding Venue Cost?
This varies enormously. A restaurant wedding, private property, luxury hinterland estate and blank-canvas venue can have completely different pricing structures.
And this is where simply comparing the initial venue-hire fee can be misleading.
One venue might look expensive but include furniture, catering, staffing, ceremony setup and coordination. Another might have a much lower hire fee but require you to bring almost everything in yourself.
Before you compare venues, look at the total cost of creating the wedding there, not just the number at the top of the venue proposal.
